Hanbury Double Secures Draw
A double from striker Sean Hanbury helped Swansea’s Under-16’s to a 2-2 draw at a windswept Fairwood on Saturday afternoon.
The Swans took the lead midway through the first half after to a break-away attack through winger Causso Darame supplied front man Hanbury to slot home.
The visitors equalised through a deflected free-kick after the restart only for the Swans to retake the lead minutes later through Hanbury again as he latched onto a loose ball in the area to volley home.
A strong Charlton side continued to pressure the Swans goal equalising 15 minutes from time.
Under-16’s coach Anthony Wright was pleased with the result.
He said: “Overall I think the boys did really well, we had a very young side with four of our players away on international duty with Wales this weekend.
“Charlton are a very tough opposition but the lads stood up to the test to score a couple of good goals, passing the ball well and creating some good chances to win the game.
“I’m pleased with the performance of the lads today they are all progressing with their development.
“Our two young lads at the back – Brandon Cooper and Tom Price – especially deserve recognition for playing up a year and in Tom’s case – out of regular position - against some powerful front men.”
