Under-18’s bag second win of the season

Swansea Under-18’s bagged their second win of the season in style at home to high flying Charlton on Saturday afternoon.

A free-kick from Kyle Copp and a neat finish from front man Owain Jones put the Swans 2-0 up at the break before defender Aaron Lewis fired home after the re-start.

The Under-18’s kept their third clean sheet of the season thanks to goalkeeper Lewis Thomas – who was called into action to save a penalty midway through the second half.

Cameron Toshack said he was delighted with the victory and performance over Charlton who sit second in the Southern League Division.

“I’m extremely pleased with the boys to get a clean sheet, we have been working on our defensive discipline and balance which was shown today.

“First half performance was the best we have delivered over the course of the season against a strong opposition.

“We managed to limit their chances and create a lot on the counter attack, our midfield and defence also moved the ball really well, which is what we asked of them.

“I thought our front line played with more confidence compared to previous weeks and there was also much better communication along our defensive back line.

Cameron Toshack next leads a Swansea Under-19’s squad at Landore tomorrow/today (Sunday, November 2nd) as the Academy start the defence of the FAW Youth Cup against Mid Wales side Bow Street at Landore – Kick-Off 2pm.
