Young Swans Could Face Spanish Giants

Swansea City Under-15s could face some of the best teams in Europe, including Real Madrid and Barcelona, after winning a national category one tournament at Warwick University.
The young Swans topped their group after victories over some of England’s best academy sides, including Bolton and Stoke, followed by a draw against Liverpool.

The team also included seven under-14 players, which made the Swans the youngest team at the tournament.
Assistant head of youth Anthony Wright believes the U15s’ success shows Swans Academy is heading in the right direction.
“It’s a reward for what we are doing here at the academy,” said Wright. “Coming out on top against some of the best academy sides shows the progress we are making.

“All our players did exceptionally well. The fact that we have qualified from this tournament is massive for the club.
“We now go through to an international tournament where we could face young players from the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus or Bayern Munich.

“To potentially come up against teams like that would be fantastic experience for our young players and can only help them and our club develop further.”
