Community Trust to host annual Celebration Event
The Swans Community Trust will tonight host its annual Celebration Event at the Liberty Stadium.
Held each year, the event aims to celebrate, recognise and reward the hard work of both participants and volunteers across all of the projects that the Community Trust runs.
From football to basketball, and from employability to enterprise, the Community Trust runs a variety of projects with an array of aims, outcomes and target audiences, all combining to help the Swans’ official charity to help create happier and healthier communities.
Tonight, the Community Trust will celebrate another successful year that has not only seen the launch new projects, but also witnessed more people engaging with the Trust and an improvement in our male to female participant ratio.
“Another season is winding down and we’ve had one of our most successful years to date,” said Head of Community, Linden Jones.
“The amount of ‘engaged’ participants we’ve interacted with across all of our projects has increased 8% on last season, we are well on track to work with 10,000 people by the end of the academic year and we are currently on an incredible 656 outcomes and 101 qualifications achieved across out projects, eclipsing last season’s total for the complete season.
“Additionally we’ve launched new projects, including Premier League Primary Stars, Premier League Girls, Premier League Works and an Inclusion programme aiming to improve the opportunities within our projects for those with disabilities.
“Award ceremonies are always the result of much hard work and a welcome opportunity to thank all our committed staff, supporters, partners, sponsors and participants who make the work that the Trust delivers so worthwhile,” he continued.
An array of awards are up for grabs tonight, including a volunteers, schools and participants of the year, as well as achievements of the year and they will be presented by Swansea City AFC’s players, as well as actor Michael Sheen who will be in attendance.
“It’s a real honour to be invited to present awards tonight and to sit amongst some incredible nominees and winners,” Michael said. “The Community Trust does so much great work and I am in awe of the impact the award winners tonight have had in their communities through the Community Trust’s programmes.”
The Celebration Event will kick off at 5pm tonight and you can stay up to date with who has won each of our awards by following @SCFCCommunityTr on Twitter.
