PL Enterprise hosts Business in the Bay

The Swans Community Trust’s Premier League Enterprise project last week hosted the Business in the Bay challenge at the Liberty Stadium.

Welcoming teams from a range of universities including Cardiff Met, Bangor and Loughborough, the two-day event tasked the students with researching the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon and pitching their findings to a panel of judges

Partnering with Swansea University’s School of Management and Price Waterhouse Coopers to deliver the competition, the event was not only a success, it also marks the move into higher education for PL Enterprise.

“Over the two days, I was really impressed by the phenomenal work ethic and business knowledge of all the teams,” said our PL Enterprise Co-ordinator, Graham Smith.

“They all did their universities great credit and should be proud of their achievements. From what I saw, everyone who took part has the potential to have a stellar career in the world of business.

“It was a real pleasure to be able to work alongside experts from The Scool of Management, Swansea University and Price Waterhouse Coopers. I hope Business in the Bay will be the first of many such collaborations, as we at Swansea City AFC Community Trust look to make a positive impact on the employability and enterprising skills of young people across the South Wales region,” he continued,

Won by Swansea University, for the second year in a row, the challenge aims to help university students to enhance a variety of entrepreneurial skills and to enhance their employability outside of academia ahead of graduating, which those involved found invaluable

Alex Stanford, a third year Business Management student from Swansea University said, “Business in the Bay at the Liberty Stadium was an incredible experience and something I’m proud to have been part of.

“My team mates and I have all gained a vital addition to our CVs to stand out from the competition. Research, team work and presentation skills were all developed throughout the two days and I couldn’t be happier that we have retained the title for Swansea.”
