Under-10s benefit from Futsal experience

 

Swans Academy Under-10s lost out against Blackburn in the Plate semi-final of the Futsal Finals in Birmingham this weekend.

Despite some good performances from a determined young side, the Swans fell to defeats against Newcastle, Blackburn and Sunderland in their opening group stage games, but recovered to take victory over Tottenham before a draw against Derby on Saturday.

Results on Sunday meant the foundation side were drawn to play Blackburn once again in the Plate semi-final.

Despite battling back from two goals down to level the score after the break, the young Swans lost their final match 5-2.

Despite the result Head of Foundation, Abbie Sadler praised the young Swans for their performances at the tournament.

“Overall the weekend was a great experience for the boys,” Sadler said.

“As a team, we have made good progress from last year’s National competition. Myself and under-10s Coach, Lee (Hodge) are really pleased with the teams performances across the weekend. 

“All players showed real determination and team spirit with lots of learning taking place throughout the two days.”
