Pentrehafod pupils compete at PL Enterprise Play-Offs

A team of budding young entrepreneurs from Pentrehafod School yesterday represented the Swans in the national Premier League Enterprise Challenge and did both their Club and their school proud.

After winning the Local Play-Offs held at the Liberty Stadium last month, the team travelled to Stoke to compete in the Regionals at the bet365 Stadium.

Pitching against teams from Sunderland, Stoke, Leicester and Watford, the pupils who presented their #StateSideSwans business proposal to a panel of judges in the hope of winning a place in the Final held in London.

Pipped to the post by Sunderland, the day was not lost however as the team found the whole Enterprise experience both rewarding and incredibly valuable.

“It’s a great opportunity and we’ve all really enjoyed it,” said Natasha after the event. “We’ve all become really good friends through it.”

Her sentiment was mirrored by that of Mahir who said, “I have a better understanding of how a business works, which I think will be really helpful in my future career. I’ve learnt how to work well as part of a team, when I used to prefer working on my own.”

Mr John, their teacher, also had praise for the project and his pupils, stating, “The Premier League Enterprise experience has been an excellent experience for the pupils. They’ve been able to develop skills that will help them for many years to come.”

The team did a remarkable job to get as far as they did and this was voiced by the Swans Community Trust Premier League Enterprise Co-ordinator, who said, “The team did a fantastic job representing Swansea City AFC and Pentrehafod School. They were creative, tenacious and worked brilliantly as a team. I’m proud of all they achieved, even if we didn’t go through to the final this time.”
