PL Girls launches girls only sessions
The Community Trust’s Premier League Girls project is this month launching new sessions specifically for girls.
Launching on Monday 23rd January, the free girls only sessions will be held on a weekly basis at Pencoed Sports Centre between 6-7pm.
Open to girls aged between 11-15 years old (school years 7-10), the sessions provide the perfect opportunity and environment for budding young footballers to get into the game, as well as to develop their skills.
“The Premier League Girls project enables us to offer female only sessions to a wider audience,” said Ian Owen, the project’s co-ordinator. “The funding gives us the opportunity to deliver a wider variety of football activities to females of all ages and abilities.”
Aiming to increase the number of women and girls playing football on a regular basis, as well as increasing the opportunities for women and girls to develop skills and confidence, the Premier League Girls project is being delivered by almost 90 professional clubs and has engaged with nearly 9,000 young female footballers across the UK since last August.
In addition to the upcoming Pencoed sessions, PL Girls also coaches girls aged 11-14 (school years 7-9) at the Baglan Boys and Girls Club from 7-8pm every Monday which are also free to attend.
