Community Trust appoint Inclusion Manager

The Swans Community Trust are pleased to announce – on International Day of People with Disabilities - the appointment of Richard Jones who will act as the charity’s new Inclusion Senior Manager.

The announcement comes after the Premier League teamed up with BT Sport in September of this year to offer football clubs’ community programmes the opportunity to enhance and develop their offering for disabled people.

With the aim of improving access to sport for those with disabilities, the main remit of the role is to ensure that all of the Trust’s activity are inclusive for those members of the community who have a disability and where appropriate, establish new opportunities for those groups of people who may need more specific support.

“This is a really exciting programme for the Trust,” said Richard. “We have some fantastic programmes across a range of different themes, whether that be physical activity and sport or education and employability.

“The key challenge for us, our partners and our volunteers is to ensure we have an inclusive offer. Over the coming months we will be establishing an inclusion steering group, working hard internally to ensure our staff have the confidence and experience to adapt and modify their programmes and asking the wider community to have an input on where we take this programme,” he finished.

In addition to increasing engagement and physical activity by disabled people, an important part of the programme will see Richard work with BT staff and offer volunteering opportunities on the inclusion programme.
