Plasmarl Primary School benefit from SwansAid
Plasmarl Primary School's PTA were this week presented with their SwansAid funds after successfully applying to the Club’s grant-giving pot.
Receiving £6,312.89 from Lee Trundle, the primary school’s PTA will use the funds to improve their sporting facilities.
“SwansAid funding will enable us to purchase sporting and play activity floor markings for the playground,” explained Nichola Fencott of the PTA. “This will encourage the children from both the school and surrounding area to take part in sport in an informal and safe environment.
“Providing additional sporting activities will enable the children to play together in a safe and sociable setting and will encourage them into participating in activities that promote health and well-being.”
This multi-sport area will help the PTA committee to provide the school with a safe area on the playground of Plasmarl Primary School where pupils and locals can play a range of sports including football, rugby, netball, cricket and rounders, as well as climbing.
“We believe that the project will make a huge different to the whole community,” said the school’s Head Teacher, Miss Saunders. “It will provide a safe and dedicated space for children to take part in general physical activity activities and to allow them to engage in free play.”
In addition to being used by the school, the wider community is at the heart of the PTA’s plans as they aim to make the multi-sports area accessible for all to attend in their mission of not only promoting pupils’ physical development, but to also build community cohesion.
