Triumphant teams to represent the Swans in PL Schools Final
This week saw our Premier League School’s project host the Finals of the PL Schools Tournament at Cwmdu’s Development Centre.
The two-day event however, not only witnessed two teams emerge to represent the Swans in the national boys and girls Final held at Goodison Park, it also saw members of the Ladies team attend Tuesday’s tournament for girls.
Running drills throughout the tournament, the Ladies players were on hand to provide coaching sessions for the young teams involved.
“Schools from across South Wales have come together and we’ve done skills, games and held a tournament,” said Katy Hosford from the Ladies team, who was one of the five players who came along to encourage the youngsters at the girls’ competition.
“It was a really fun day and we’ve joined in with activities but it’s been good to watch the girls and see their skills and what they have to offer,” she added.
In addition to the Ladies, Wayne Routledge and Lee Trundle also popped in following the final to congratulate the girls from Ysgol Dyffryn Aman who were triumphant.
“It’s very important for the Club to support young people of all ages in football,” said first team forward Wayne Routledge. “It starts from the bottom and the more you learn when you’re younger, the better you become when you’re older so it’s very important.”
Accompanying Dyffryn Aman to Goodison will be Ysgol Castell Nedd’s U11 side who saw off competition from 130 other schools to claim the boys’ crown.
The two winning sides will now progress to the national Finals of the tournament, that takes place on May 17th.
