Trust partners with The Wave for Swans Family Fun Run

The Swans Community Trust have partnered with The Wave for their upcoming fundraising Family Fun Run.

The local radio station will be in attendance at the event that will allow participants to run through the Liberty Stadium for the first time.

Delivering on-air coverage of the event via a live link, The Wave presenters will also be providing entertainment throughout the day.

Organised by the Swans Community Trust, the run will be held on Easter Monday at the Liberty and invites families to get involved to help promote healthy living and raise money for the Swans’ official charity in the process.

With the money raised going towards the Trust, the event will help Swansea City AFC’s official charity to continue to deliver health, education and youth engagement projects aiming to improve the lives of people within our local communities.

Taking place on Monday 28th March, the Swans Family Fun Run will include three different distances for all ages and abilities (a 1k, 5k and timed 10k), and will see participants cross the finish line after running through the home of Wales’ only Premier League team.

“The Wave and Swansea Sound are very proud to be a part of The Swans Community Trust this year,” announced Helen Bowden, the Station Director. “The Swans have a great reputation not just across Wales but across the world and to take this into the community is such a brilliant idea,” she continued.

“Families can come together, join in and get fit as part of this initiative and have fun with others across the Swansea Bay region,” Helen finished, and the sentiment is shared by one of the station’s most popular presenters.

“As the official stations of Swansea City AFC and the number one commercial radio stations in South West Wales, The Wave and Swansea Sound are proud to support and be involved with the Swans Family Fun Run at the Liberty on Easter Monday,” said Badger, presenter of the Breakfast Show.

Based alongside the start and finish line outside the stadium, The Wave presenters will be on hand throughout race day to officially compere the event. They’ll also be joined by a selection of caterers housed in the Runners’ Village to create a great atmosphere for the whole family to enjoy.

Entry includes a Swansea City medal and the prices* for each run are as follows:
• 1k - £5 (starts 10am)
• 5k - £5 (starts 10.45am)
• 10k timed race for over 15 year olds - £12 (starts 12pm)
