Swans run coaches workshop

Swansea City continued it's dedication to training more grassroots coaches on Sunday by hosting a workshop at Llandarcy Academy of sport.

Swansea City Academy currently operate 17 development centres in Wales and Bristol with further centres in Ireland.

The centres support player development and provide a pathway for all talented players to access the Academy.

The current structure reaches over 700 players per week.

The workshop run on Sunday was the first time the Swansea Academy have offered bespoke support for our Development Centres run by Nigel Mathias (Head of Development).

Over 40 coaches and centre managers attending a 3 hour insight into how to design, organise and deliver sessions within these centres to ensure a consistency of ideas between academy and development centres.

Dave Adams (Head of Academy Coaching) said: "A big part of developing players is to develop coaches.

"As a club we recognise that our development centres are where many of our future players will begin their journey, so educating these coaches is fundamental to support this proces."
