Swans PL Kicks host Bournemouth counterparts

This weekend, the Swans Community Trust Premier League Kicks project hosted their Bournemouth counterparts in an under-18s game at the Elba Sports Complex.

Mirroring the First Team's Saturday fixture, the day saw the Swans take on teams from Bournemouth's own Kicks project.

Fielding two 5-a-side teams each, the sides competed in four matches and despite each being a close contest, Swansea took the winning honours.

Speaking after the games, Swansea's Kicks Co-ordinator, Ian Owen, said, "Today has been a great success. Both teams enjoyed the morning and with both playing some good football, we were lucky enough to take the win today, but I'm sure that if we play Bournemouth again, it will be another tough encounter.

"We are grateful for Bournemouth travelling down to play us and there will be some great memories for all the players as they got to represent Swansea City AFC and AFC Bournemouth respectively. We hope to keep this link with them and maybe make it an annual competition against them. I am also hoping we can create links with other clubs and have similar days like this."

Following the Kicks game, the visiting players and staff were then taken to the Liberty Stadium to watch the Swans' First Team take on AFC Bournemouth.
