Walking Football launches new sessions

Following the success and popularity of Walking Football’s Llandarcy sessions, the initiative is to introduce a new weekly event this month.

Building upon the Walking Football sessions that have already been successfully run as part of the Hearty Lives Project, the scheme is to be rolled out in the Meadow View Sports Complex in Swansea.

“Walking Football has become increasingly popular and some people are travelling from as far as Carmarthen to take part,” said Hearty Live’s Project Coordinator, Leonne Daniels.

“Players are really enjoying the game and have requested that we create more opportunities to play, so that’s what we are doing,” he continued.

Kicking off on Monday 23rd November with two weeks worth of free taster sessions, Walking Football will be held between 12-1pm and will cost jsut £2 after those sessions.

With the aim of providing an opportunity for physical activity at an intensity that is right for all participants, as well as the chance to socialise and have fun, Walking Football is the perfect sport for anyone looking to play the game they love at a pace they can enjoy.

As well as launching a second venue, the project will be sending a team to compete in the Pontypridd Walking Football Festival at the end of the month where teams consisting of players aged over 50 are invited to take part.
