Junior side presented with new kits

The Community Trust yesterday presented a local junior football team with kits for the coming season, after they won them through SwansAid.

During a training session at Penygaer Playing Fields, the young Evans & Williams FC side - known as the ‘Albies’ – was the latest team to benefit from the scheme.

Applying for the kits last season, Evans & Williams’ U7 side received their new shirts in the build up to their first tournament of their debut season, after friends, Rich Lewis and Jonny Perrott formed the side.

“The new kits are outstanding,” said Rich. “We’re all really chuffed with them, the kids are really excited and it’s given them all a lift.”

Twice a season, SwansAid makes financial grants to a variety of charities and organisations, but also gives local sporting clubs the opportunity to apply for kits, regardless of what sport it is they play, with the aim of helping grassroots teams.

“There are a number of young teams starting up these days and it can be hard to find sponsorship, so we’re so grateful for the help that we’ve had from SwansAid,” Rich continued.

“It would have been an uphill struggle without the Trust’s sponsorship,” echoed Jonny. “The boys absolutely love their new kit and I think a few are wearing them to bed! It’s made a massive difference to us as we start our adventure as Evans & Williams U7s,” he said.

Kit applications for the next round of SwansAid grants open on September 19th, so if your team is in need of a kit, check your eligibility and apply from next Saturday.
