U11s come fourth at International Cup
Players from Swans Academy’s under-11s and under-12s have finished fourth at an International Cup tournament against sides from across Europe.
Swansea joined teams from England, Spain, Denmark, Sweden and Lithuania at the tournament run by the Premier League.
The young Swans won their first five games to top their group and qualify for the knock-out stage of the competition going on to win their next two games before drawing against Everton’s youngsters.
Defeats against Spain’s Rayo Vallecano and the Premier League’s Chelsea placed the young Swans 4th out of 12 in the final rankings.
Swans Academy’s Head of Foundation, Dan Maxwell said: “The tournament was a great experience for the boys both on and off the pitch. The Premier League covered every aspect with great detail, ensuring the competitive element of the games was balanced with a ‘fun zone’ of activities for the players to take part in between games.
“Swansea’s positive play on the field and excellent manner off the pitch left a good impression on the organisers, officials, opponents and supporters, and hopefully we’ll be invited back for future tournaments.”
