U21s draw final league game of season

The Under-21s ended their league season with a point following a goalless draw against Ipswich at Landore.

The home side had the better chances of an even first half as Henry Jones and Stephen Fallon both came close.

But they couldn't find a winner in the second half as the development squad now look ahead to the play-offs in the week commencing May 4.

SWANS U21s: Gregor Zabret, Daniel Alfei, Aaron Lewis, Adnan Maric, Alex Gogic, Keston Davies, Stephen Fallon, Henry Jones (Sam Evans, ht), Alex Samuel, Kyle Copp (Liam Cullen, 64), Owain Jones.

SUBS: Oliver Davies, Joseph Jones, James Demetriou.

IPSWICH U21s: Michael Crowe, Josh Emmanuel, Miles Kenlock, Shane McLoughlin, Joe Robinson, Matt Clarke (capt), Kyle Hammond, Victor Guldbrandsen, Monty Patterson, Kundai Benyu, Alex Henshall.

SUBS: George Fowler, Chris Smith, James Blanchfield, Cemal Ramadan.

The Swans came into this fixture having already booked their place in the play-offs following Monday's win over Cardiff.

But they started brightly at Landore as skipper Henry Jones headed just wide and Stephen Fallon saw an effort with the outside of his right foot drop a fraction wide of the post.

Ipswich responded well in the latter stages of the first half as Victor Guldbrandsen shot over before the same player was denied by a fine block from Swans keeper Gregor Zabret.

Half-time: Swans U21s 0-0 Ipswich U21s

The Swans made a change at the break as Sam Evans replaced Henry Jones in midfield.

Keston Davies had the first chance of the second period when he headed over from six yards out after a fine delivery from Kyle Copp.

That was to be Copp's last involvement as he was replaced by youngster Liam Cullen with just under half hour remaining.

Shane McLoughlin almost broke the deadlock at the other end as his 25-yard effort was tipped round the post by Zabret, while Fallon's shot was parried by Michael Crowe and Cullen volleyed over the rebound.

And Cullen was involved again with ten minutes to play as he was put through on goal, but his weak effort was comfortably saved by Crowe.

Alex Samuel had the last action of the game as his shot was parried away, leaving both sides to settle for a share of the points.
