Girls development side take derby spoils

A Swans girls development side took an impressive win over Cardiff in only their second ever game at Landore training ground on Wednesday.

The under-14s overcame a nervous start to dominate the play with the deadlock broken through forward Aneeka Bardsley, her neat dribbling beating three players before slotting home on 20 minutes.

The Swans doubled their lead before half-time when forward Lauren Pritchard fired home from outside the penalty box.

Chances for Cardiff were denied by Deanna Lewis in the Swans net.

Swans girls secured the win with a third goal on 80 minutes through Charlotte Arnesen-Williams after neat passing in midfield.

Coach Nia Davies said: "The girls were very happy with the result and were very pleased to keep a clean sheet, credit to the defence and goalkeeper.

"It was a great to see the girls perform at this level, what we have worked on in training was shown during the game.

"The result is only swans girls developments second game, I am a very pleased with what the players have achieved in such a short space of time, we look forward to carrying on the hard work as a team."
