Swans Under-18s face Chelsea in FA Youth Cup
Swansea City’s Under-18s could make history on Wednesday (21st January) as they face Chelsea in the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup.
The game at Aldershot Town FC kicks-off at 7:05pm.
The Swans face the current holders of the cup after beating Watford and Doncaster Rovers in the previous rounds.
Chelsea, meanwhile, beat Leeds 2-0 in the third round before thrashing Huddersfield 6-1 in round four to book their place in the last 16.
The winners of Wednesday's tie will face a trip to either Newcastle or Sunderland in the quarter-finals.
And coach Cameron Toshack insists the squad are relishing the challenge of facing the Blues.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for everyone," he said. "We played Chelsea in a pre-season friendly and have first-hand experience of their playing style and athleticism that they possess.
"We're under no illusions about the game but it is one that we are all really looking forward to.
"We want to be the best that we can be and I hope we do ourselves justice because the boys have had a great run so far and done well.
"We'll be well prepared and one thing I can promise is that we'll give it everything we've got and do our very best."
Academy Manager, Nigel Rees added: “We have every chance if we stick to what we are good at, we have played very well to get here and deserve the opportunity.
“It has been brilliant to watch this team develop over the course of the competition and this is a massive opportunity for our young players to play and learn against a Category One side and a really exciting time for them.”
