Premier League Schools
The Premier League Schools Programme delivers a first class, engaging and innovative service that tackles the health, education and inclusion agendas for all members of society.
The programme uses the brand of Swansea City to gain learners’ interest in the area that will be covered and once engaged, individuals can reap the rewards of the sessions that will be delivered in their classrooms and outdoor environments, in a unique and alternative manner.
It offers a high quality series of bespoke programmes that meet individual needs and requirements of Primary Schools situated in the four counties of Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
We feel that by listening to individual school’s needs, and designing bespoke provisions for them, we can ensure a very high quality of delivery and develop strong and lasting relationships with the schools that we work with.
The main aims of the project are to offer support, guidance and structured Football and Educational Sessions to primary aged children, with the aim of increasing participation, identifying talent and promoting stronger links with our communities. With the emphasis being on encouraging more children to be active and healthy and develop learning and social skills, all delivered in a safe, structured learning environment under the guidance of Swansea City Community Trust’s qualified coaching staff.
Additionally, our aims include:
-To increase children’s participation in sport.
-To provide a range of services to improve the educational outcomes of young people at risk of underachieving due to a lack of skills, confidence and engagement opportunities.
-To promote a healthy, active lifestyle.
-To improve locomotor, manipulative fundamental skills.
-Enhance technical skills and childrens’/players’ knowledge of the game.
-Improve childrens' literacy and numeracy skills.
-Improve childrens' learning and social skills.
-Establish positive links with schools, junior football clubs and local authorities.
-Monitor Talent ID Referrals for the Club’s Development Centre and Academy Clubs.
-To create a positive impact in the wider communities.
We achieve these aims by offering:
-An option to buy back in to future sessions (no obligation to do so).
-A free six-week delivery of the Premier League Schools project aimed at 5-11 year olds.
-Full bespoke literacy and numeracy education resources (all through the vehicle of football).
-Breakfast/lunchtime and after school clubs.
-Local festivals and tournaments with local cluster schools.
-Premier League Schools Tournaments.
-An extensive Holiday Soccer Camp Programme
-Access to the Premier League Reading Stars Scheme.
-Club Ambassador and player visits (subject to availability).
We also get involved in schools with our Premier League Reading Stars Scheme and our Soccer Camps.
Working in conjunction with the National Literacy Trust, we have been able to add the Reading Stars Scheme to our already extensive Education Programme, which allows us to target pupils with low reading attainment levels.
This scheme engages with those who have a passion for football and uses this passion to inspire a love of reading through educational workshops, as well as school visits, player and brand ambassador visits (subject to availability).
Additionally, we offer an extensive Holiday Soccer Camp Programme where boys and girls of all abilities can fully express themselves in a safe and structured environment under the guidance of our B License qualified coaching team.
Currently delivering 10 Soccer Camps throughout Wales during all school holidays, our aims include promoting healthy and active lifestyles, improving childrens’ social and technical skills, increasing participation throughout local communities and junior football clubs, as well as providing exit routes to the Club’s Development Centres/Academy and local junior football clubs.
We are a creative, driven and forward thinking organisation who are always on the lookout for likeminded partners who wish to have a genuine social impact so for further information, please contact the Schools Co-ordinator, Thomas Williams:
